PPSA Range REOPEN

Fire Restrictions - PPSA Range

Re-Opened with Conditions

Effective August 24, 2021 p.m.

PPSA Shooting Range Re-Opened

The Stage 2 fire restrictions remain in effect Lewis and Clark County & The Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest. Through the efforts of PPSA President Neil Horn and U.S. Forest Service conditions have been identified to allow re-opening the PPSA shooting range.

Conditions for reopening are:

  • Remove all metal targets, meaning only paper targets will be used range wide.

  • Placement of Shovel, fire extinguishers, and backpacks of water at each of the four shooting stations for rapid response should a fire occur. First use 911 to activate fire response, only attempt to extinguish fire if it can be done safely. Maintain personal safety!

  • Each Friday at 0900, The Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest District Ranger will evaluate whether risks or conditions have changed enough to close the range again.

  • Close the range when a red flag warning for the area is in place. When a red flag warning is posted for the area the range will need to be closed for that day.

The PPSA Range Officer and PPSA board members will monitor to be sure mitigations are still relevant for changing weather conditions Please be aware the PPSA Range is subject to condition-based closure. The PPSA is committed to informing its members about any range closure, the range may be closed without advance notice.
